The story begins with Marc Boutet, our co-founder.
Marc Boutet is the president and co-founder of De Marque. For over 35 years, he has combined his passion for technology, culture, and people to create digital solutions that make content more accessible on a global scale.
A pioneer in the distribution of ebooks across multiple countries, he has led De Marque, from Quebec City, at the heart of innovative projects: digital lending for public and school libraries, and the creation of platforms for selling ebooks and audiobooks.
Together with his team, he tackles the current challenges of the book industry by developing robust, scalable technologies designed to meet the needs of publishers, libraries, and readers.
1990 - 2007
Launch of Tap’Touche and contributions to technological innovation in the education sector, including digital magazines and interactive whiteboards
2008
Launch of Cantook Édition, our digital distribution platform for publishers, originally named l'Entrepôt du livre numérique ANEL-De Marque.
2009
De Marque offers a Cantook Édition license to the French publishing consortium Eden Livres for digital distribution
2010
De Marque offers a Cantook Édition license to the Italian publishing consortium Edigita for digital distribution
2011
Launch of Cantook Bibliothèques, our digital lending platform for public libraries
2012
Launch of Pretnumerique.ca, Quebec’s provincial digital lending service powered by Cantook Libraries
2014
De Marque offers a Cantook Édition license to the Spanish consortium Libranda.
Cantook Libraries reaches one million library loans.
